Gate pass management app built for Okasha Smart and SolarMax, replacing a paper process that was quietly costing both companies time at every warehouse gate.
A gate pass is a small document with outsized consequences. It records what physically left a facility, and when the paper version goes missing the stock ledger and reality stop agreeing. The app moves the whole process to a phone at the point where goods actually move.
Material scanning is the core interaction. Users scan multiple boxes and generate a pass in seconds rather than transcribing item codes by hand, which removes the single largest source of error in the old process. Customer-specific passes adapt the format to what each client requires, because the receiving end has its own paperwork expectations and a generic document creates friction on arrival.
Multi-warehouse support lets one app cover several facilities, with print functionality for the physical copy that still has to travel with the goods. Sales ratio widgets give supervisors a read on performance without opening a separate reporting tool, and filtering and search make historical records findable, which is the whole point of digitising them.
Built with React Native and Expo for cross-platform deployment from one codebase, a Node.js backend, and PostgreSQL for storage. Postgres rather than a document store because gate passes are transactional records tied to inventory, and the relational constraints are doing real work.
Both clients have asked to extend it with a web version for admin-side cross-checking, which is the useful signal: the mobile tool became load-bearing enough that they now want a desk view of the same data.
